The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre offers superb technical facilities and skilled, dedicated staff to ensure your production is mounted in a professional, trouble-free manner, with no hidden costs or unnecessary administration and red tape.

The rental for 2024 is R26 450 per week (incl. VAT) plus 5% of gross ticket income (excl. VAT), and the theatre is only hired out on a weekly basis, with preference first given to longer-running shows of 2 - 6 weeks.  There is no difference in rental for the pre-production/rehearsal period.  The lessee is entitled to a maximum of 7 performances a week, with only one show permitted on a Sunday.

Included in the rental is the use of all installed lighting and sound equipment, one lighting technician, and all FOH staff (box office manager, ushers, bar and coffee bar).  Our shows traditionally run Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday nights dark. All advance booking must be done through Computicket, and we have a box office which handles door sales (subject to ticket availability) from one hour before show time.

The lessee is responsible for all arrangements and costs concerning the show, including publicity and marketing, as we are essentially a venue for hire.  If additional technical staff members are required for the show, we can source and provide them, but this would be for the lessee's account. The lessee is responsible for securing the necessary rights from SAMRO or DALRO and paying any royalties due, pertaining to the production for which they are hiring the theatre.

In order to confirm and secure the booking of the theatre, a lease agreement must be signed and a minimum of one week’s rental must be received as a deposit.
