The Centre for Creative Arts and eThewkini play host to the 19th annual edition of the JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience - a hearty buffet packed full of dance delights that will titillate, challenge and delight audience of all ages and art inclinations!

On the international agenda, JOMBA! hosts a magnificent collaboration between Johannesburg based Gregory Maqoma and German choreographer Helge Letonja. This meeting of Vuyani Dance Company and steptext dance project (Bremen, Germany) will open the festival. Dutch neo-classical giants, INTRODANS return to JOMBA! with a stellar programme of neo-classical ballet by iconic choreographers like Robert Battle, Hans van Manen and Cayetano Soto.

Continuing JOMBA! Connection to the African continent, this year’s festival host Benin choreographer Marel Gbeffa whose solo work “et si... “ will have its Southern African premier at JOMBA! South Africa’s most resolute and disident dance voice, Mamela Nyamza, brings her recent creation,  “de-apart-hate” and is sure to create dialogue. The 2017 Standard Bank Young Artsit for dance, Thandazile Radebe, will journey straight from the National Arts Festival to JOMBA! to present her award winning “SABELA” – a work that looks at the legacy of naming and identity. On the local Durban front, choreographers Sifiso Khumalo (Flatfoot Dance Company) and Mdu Mtshali will premier new works at the KZN ON THE EDGE JOMBA! platform. The festival also has a JOMBA! Youth Fringe and a JOMBA! FRINGE, both with selected dance works that celebrate a rich and vibrant cityof artists who are making meaningful dance.

Tickets are also available at the door from one hour before show-time, subject to availability.  Tickets cost R65, with a concession price is R45 for students, scholars and pensioners.
