Little Shop of Horrors

Musical

Little Shop of Horrors is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film of the same name, and is the first professional production of this musical to be seen in Durban. This is a vigorous, energetic and hugely entertaining story about a small exotic and bloodthirsty plant that grows … and grows ….and Steven Stead and Greg King of KickstArt Productions triumph by transforming this timeless legend into something new and fresh.  The show roars along from start to finish, offering a great evening’s entertainment. Don’t miss it!

The impressive and multi-talented cast includes Pume Zondi, Londiwe Dhlomo and Belinda Henwood who perform as a musical trio and also appear as street urchins. Jacobus van Heerden and Liam Magner take on a number of roles from layabouts to sharp media representatives, and Peter Court is a delight as Mr Mushnik, the owner of the flower shop.  Durban’s irrepressible funny man Aaron McIlroy is the perfect choice for the evil dentist who abuses the endearing, adorable Audrey, played by Lisa Bobbert. And Bryan Hiles as Seymour is at last seen in a role which allows him to display his vocal and dancing skills as well as his natural exuberance, sensitivity and flair for comedy. To top it all, there is a plant puppet that reaches to the ceiling and is voiced by none other than the inimitable Tim Wells!

See this show and you’ll once again be reminded why this prized theatre company continually cleans up at the theatre awards
