The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre bids a very fond farewell to Production Manager and Resident Lighting Designer Mark Kleinert, who leaves the theatre at the end of June and emigrates to Australia with his wife Tarryn in mid-July.

Mark studied at the former Natal Technikon and obtained a National Diploma: Performing Arts Technology (cum-laude).  He began his career at the former Langoustine Dinner Theatre in Durban North and worked there between 1999 and 2003.  He then moved to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre as Production Manager / Resident Lighting Designer.

During his career he has created outstanding lighting designs for shows such as Shall We Dance, Mercury Rising, Uptown Guy, Othello, The Wiz, Big River and more recently, The Guitar that Rocked the World, which won a Durban Theatre Award for Best Lighting Design.  Mark has also rigged, focused, programmed and operated the lighting for most of the productions staged at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.  He will be greatly missed, both for his exceptional talent and as a valued colleague and friend - he has been a loyal employee of UKZN and a part of the Elizabeth Sneddon theatre family for ten years.

"Mark, we wish you exciting and prosperous times ahead in the land down under - and may the mountain biking be even better!"
