Musical

Camelot is a magical musical classic which explores the enchanting and inspiring tales of King Arthur, and his Knights of the Round Table, against a backdrop rich in the pageantry of a legendary, medieval England.   It features some of Lerner and Loewe’s most beautiful music, with songs like “If Ever I Would Leave You”, “How To Handle a Woman”, “It’s May” and “I Loved You Once in Silence”.

The story follows the premise of the folklore: Guinevere, King Arthurs’s magnificent wife encourages him to establish the Knights of the Round Table. As the Knights grow in popularity and respect, Lancelot Du Lac becomes the most celebrated of them all – and dangerous rumours begin to circulate about his fondness of Guinevere, asking the question “Can Camelot really be the idealistic place of Arthur’s dreams?”

The original acclaimed 1960 production ran on Broadway for 873 performances, winning four Tonys and spawning several revivals – and the 1967 film of the same name. Directed by Moss Hart with orchestration by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J Lang, the original cast album was American’s top selling LP for 60 weeks.  This Kickstart production stars Steven Stead as Arthur, Jessica Sole as his queen, Guinevere, and Lyle Buxton as Sir Lancelot. With sumptuous Game of Thrones-inspired costumes by Terrence Bray, atmospheric sets by Greg King and choreography by Janine Bennewith, this romantic and stirring musical will be an unmissable theatrical experience.
