The annual JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Centre for Creative Arts, celebrates its 20th edition with the theme "Legacy ".   This landmark 20th edition will celebrate 20 years of bringing Durban the world through contemporary dance, and 20 years if nurturing and supporting the growth and development of contemporay dance in the city through open workshops, grants and the creation of platforms for local dancers and choreographers to showcase their work.

The thirteen-day event showcases local and internationally acclaimed talent. Highlights this year include Johannesburg based, Moving Into Dance Mophatong, Anita Ratnam from India, an accomplished Indian choreographer and classical and contemporary dancer, Standard Bank Young Artist Awardee Musa Hlatshwayo, Unmute Dance Company from Cape Town, a company that focuses on integrated dance practices, will collaborate with the Durban-based Flatfoot Dance Company, the Swiss-based Company lonnis Mandafounis which has turned global choreographic norms on its head, Danse des Bouteilles and Gabi Saranouffi from Madagascar, Aida Colmenero Diaz from Spain, plus a host of local artists performing in a selection of fringe and site-specific events.

The dance festival also provides a platform for young talent to be nurtured throiugh workshops, discusssions and master classes by seasoned performers. JOMBA! also hosts a Youth Fringe for young dancers.
