Load Shedding and Appeal for Funding

Worldwide, the performing arts industry is non profit-making, and depends heavily on government subsidies, corporate and private funding. Other than vital support from UKZN, the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre receives no financial aid or sponsorship, and there is an increasing need for funding from the private sector.

The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre has recently invested in the purchase of a permanently installed generator to ensure the continued operation of the theatre during load-shedding or other power failure causes, thereby minimizing disruption, disappointment and financial losses to patrons, performers and lessees of the venue.  A capital injection of R900 000 is required to offset this cost, as the theatre's operational fund is now severely depleted.

To make a donation, start by completing the Funding Pledge Form, downloadable below. All qualifying donors will receive tax relief under Section 18A.  The Funding Pledge Form is also available from the theatre box office.
